We had many projects going on during the month of May. We actually have been filming for 28 days in a row, in the Netherlands, Poland, Valencia, Granada and Málaga! As always, the jobs were quite different from each other. Ranging from a large corporate event, a documentary and outdoor activities to a nice video workshop with students. So now we need to do some editing and process all the nice footage. We can’t wait to see the nice final results!
We are proud of our Dutch roots and even so more when that is combined with films and filmmaking. Recently two Hollywood trailers with a Dutch part were released. The first one is for The Hitman’s Bodyguard starring Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds. Thanks to the Dutch tax incentive this was partly shot in Amsterdam last summer. In the trailer the beautiful locations of the city are clearly visible.
The second trailer is more subtle. Here a Dutch song plays a big part: Radar Love by Golden Earring. The us of it is very funny in this trailer of Baby Driver, the new film by Edgar Wright.
Costamundo is part of a new joint venture: the Outdoor Photography Experience. This photo trip is a unique combination of outdoor activities, a professional photography course and holiday. Photographer Martin Hogeboom will give a 5-day masterclass on location in southern Spain. During the efficient days the participants will join in all kinds of activities and learn how to capture these with their cameras. The program is developed specifically for this week and the excursies are customized to learn many photography techniques. A perfect combination in a beautiful location. For now we focus on the Dutch market, but next year we will add other countries as well! You can find the website (in Dutch) here.
TVWorkshop organises fun and creative team building activities and company events. Groups ranging from 10 to 500 people make music videos, commercials, news broadcasts or scenes from feature films. Highly creative and team building guaranteed! Originally a Dutch company, it now has several locations worldwide. Costamundo is involved in TVWorkshop Spain and from Singapore TVWorkshop Asia is operating. The different locations exchange experiences often and it’s really nice to work with such an international company. Team building, creativity and having fun appear to be universal things!
For a while now we’ve been working on a very special documentary project for the Prehistoric Museum in the Netherlands. The documentary follows a small team working on the reconstruction of a dinosaur skeleton. Based on just one bone, they started a scientific puzzle to gather more data and similar bones, in order to create a factual reconstruction. Based on the first days of shooting, we created this (Dutch) teaser.
For LIFE Adventure in Nerja we made two spectacular promotional videos, a short one for social media and a longer one for the website and YouTube. In these videos we combine images from a camera on the ground with images from our 4K Drone. Exactly this combination makes a video professional and surprising!
With Postcard Experience we create original green screen experiences for companies, events and marketing campaigns. The last weekend of January we were hired by big Dutch group travel specialist Djoser to spice up their travel information days. It was a great success. We created a beautifully animated film in which the visitors could take a trip round the world in 30 seconds. Within 2,5 days we made 426 films, featuring over 1000 people. And with an average share / viewing rate of 20+ per film, the video has been seen by over 10.000 viewers!
A bit of a different blog post here. Of course filmmakers like to watch movies and tv series as well, for entertainment but also for inspiration. And 2016 was quite a good year with interesting films like Elle, Arrival, La La Land and (the Dutch produced, partly shot in Spain) Brimstone.
On the series side, the return of Sherlock and Black Mirror was nice, Stranger Things was ok but overrated and Westworld started strong but became a drag in the end.
Now 2017 is finally here with one of the most anticipated series coming in May: the third season of Twin Peaks! Never ever has a piece of fiction had this much impact. Maybe because it was a truly groundbreaking cinematic tv series or maybe because it was a teenage obsession, buying VHS tapes at the end of every month to watch the next three episodes. After the very intense prequel film Fire Walk With Me and a few books, we had to wait more than 25 years for it to return. While we cannot wait, time will tell wether it can live up to the hopes and expectations. The author of this interesting article thinks it will!
With TV Workshop Spain we made a funny and creative Christmas video for restaurant Vino Mio in Málaga. To the sounds of ‘All I want for christmas is you” the camera moves in one take through the beautifully decorated and the staff sings playbacks to this Christmas message for all partners and clients. TV Workshop organizes fun and creative film workshops for companies and groups in Spain.
We made a short report about The Youth Project “London in Malaga 2016”. This was organized again this year and over 120 young people got the chance to go through a transformation coaching process as well as improving their English. A very rewarding experience made possible by ANREM, Diputacion de Malaga and La Noria.
